One former marine father and his wife have decided to sue their daughter’s school, in Maryland, after she was given several assignments on Islamic religion, which is actually called indoctrination. Religious teachings in schools are forbidden under the first amendment.
The lawsuit was filed by the Thomas More Law Center on behalf of John Kevin Wood and his wife, Melissa. According to the pair, their daughter and her classmates were forced to do several assignments on islamic religion. They felt it was being pushed on them.
For example, one of the assignments was to memorize the “five pillars of Islam”. Another assignment was to write the Islamic creed “Shahada,” which means “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.” The Washington Free Beacon says that when the phrase “Shahada” is repeated by a non-muslim it means they are converting, essentially.

Another assignment made the students memorize and recite the Five Pillars of Islam.
The suit was filed against the Charles County Public School system, the Board of Education and the principal and vice principal of the high school.
In addition, the suit claimed that the teachings put Christianity in a negative light.
“Defendants have treated Plaintiffs’ Christian beliefs and heritage as subordinate to Islamic beliefs and heritage, have treated Plaintiffs’ Christian beliefs and heritage with deliberate indifference, and have been hostile toward C.W. and her family,” the suit read.
The law suit took a firm stance against the teaching of Islam in public schools.
“Parents must be ever vigilant to the Islamic indoctrination of their children under the guise of teaching history and multiculturalism. This is happening in public schools across the country. And they must take action to stop it,” Thomas More president Richard Thompson said in a statement.
The story quickly went viral, with many applauding the lawsuit and expressing their anger at the school for teaching about the religion.
