Secret Service is probably laughing up a storm after catching a man attempting to jump the White House fence Tuesday night. The bumbling climber essentially caught himself… on the fence.
Another man with a plan to jump the famous fence at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue tried and failed. In an effort to grab a tiny bit of glory, he added himself to the ever-growing list of White House fence jumpers.
However, this one didn’t make it very far. TMZ reported that he never even got past the barriers that surround the White House grounds.
This latest White House fence fiasco happened right before 11:00 p.m. Tuesday night. He tried to climb the fence located on 15th Street. That’s when he got literally caught in the “security features affixed to the top of the fence.”
Utah Republican Representative Jason Chaffetz was there to witness the failed fence jumping caper. He graphically described what he saw to TMZ:
“He was up there dangling on the fence, and the Secret Service grabbed him.”
The Rep. also noted to TMZ that he’s been concerned about the security at the White House for a while now.
Although all the particulars of this incident aren’t yet in, Chaffetz told TMZ that be believes proper security protocol was followed.
Shortly before the jumper’s Tuesday night attempt, Chaffetz thwarted his concerns.
But others thought the whole thing hilarious. Although there fence-jumper wasn’t identified by name, a few wondered, could it have been?…
And the chuckling continued.
But as funny as the circumstances of Tuesday’s jumper were, it really isn’t a laughing matter.
Earlier this month an intruder made it past the fence and onto the grounds and wasn’t apprehended until he was close to the residence’s entrance while the president was inside.
