An HIV infected man was caught raping a young woman in Columbus, Georgia, and when pressed by police he had the nerve to brag about what he had done to officers faces; but when face-to-face with a judge in a courtroom, he pled “not guilty”.
Officers say 55-year-old Joseph Lee Sims was a homeless man who was actually well known with homeless organizations. The young woman, whose identity has not been revealed for privacy reasons was able to identify him on the spot. She says he attacked her as she was walking “near the river” one morning.
Sims bragged to officers that he “had the white b—- without a condom”.
Sims has a criminal history, and this time was charged with rape, sodomy, reckless conduct HIV and giving false information to police.

The 55-year-old has a prior criminal background for a similar arrest. In 1996, he was arrested for HIV reckless conduct, according to jail records. An HIV test can identify antibodies as early as three weeks after contact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Judge Julius Hunter ordered Sims to be held without bond and the case was moved to Superior Court. He was given a $250 bond on the false information charge, according to the Ledger-Enquirer.
“I’m going to be free one way or the other,” Sims said as he was being accompanied out of the courtroom.
