Karim Alaa Hussain, a Muslim immigrant in Sweden, is raising a huge social media campaign and claiming discrimination all because a woman was asked to show her ticket on a train while traveling from Stockholm to Hallsberg.
When the female attendant approached, witnesses say the Muslim woman, clad in a hijab, began to make a fuss.
She told the attendant that she had already shown her ticket to the conductor and began to yell that they were targeting her because she was Muslim. Meanwhile, an Iraqi immigrant man, Karim Alaa Hussain, began to back her up and also started a scene.
Passengers attempted to intervene and calm the man down, but he became increasingly hostile and struck a man in the face. The victim wrestled Hussain to the floor, but he managed to get up and pull out a kitchen knife. He then stabbed the victim four times in the side.
After stabbing the man, Hussain pointed his bloody knife at passengers and demanded a father and daughter to tell him if they were “also racists.” He also told passengers to show him respect. When the train stopped, he fled and hid in a nearby garden until he was caught by police. He told authorities that he was “proud” of his actions, but was ultimately sentenced to 8.5 years in prison. Hussain had a previous record of crimes and previously served 3.5 years in prison before being released early.
