Khalid Masood, the man responsible for the London terrorist attacks last week. His youngest daughter told reporters that she rejected the radical ‘Islamic’ beliefs. She went out of her way to forge a path of her own, which included wearing revealing clothing.
Masood was determined to get both of his daughters to convert to Islam. He wanted them to dress like proper Islamic women, and wear conservative apparel, say friends of the family.
His oldest daughter, 24-year-old Andi, did indeed follow in Masood’s footsteps. She left her sister and her mother, Jane, when her parents decided to separate. However, his youngest daughter, 18-year-old Teegan Harvey, chose to remain with her mother, who’s a successful businesswoman, reports the Sun.
Masood wanted both of his daughters to convert to Islam and wear the conservative clothing that entailed, according to friends of the family.
And while his daughter Andi, 24, followed in her father’s footsteps, leaving her mother and sister behind after her parents separated, his younger daughter, 18-year-old Teegan Harvey, stayed with her mother, Jane, a successful businesswoman, the Sun reported.
Despite pressure from her father to convert to islam, the young woman chose to keep her Western values.
A photo of Harvey from last May shows her in a very risque dress, not in line with the conservative Islamic dress code, for the prom at Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar School, according to The Sun.
“Jane was totally against the idea and wanted Teegan to remain with her,” Luke Lawrence, 23, who was friends with Andi in school, said.
“But Andi was older and could be very headstrong, so she just went off and did it anyway,” he said.
Masood converted to Islam, and changed his name from his original name of Adrian Elms, while in prison for an alleged knife attack in 2003.
“Andi was a lovely girl but when she moved away to become a Muslim she cut off contact with her friends here,” Lawrence told the Sun.
“She went off to live with her dad after he converted her. I’m not sure why she went with him, he was a nutter.”
“Teegan stayed with her mum.”
Lawrence said Andi was involved in a serious accident when she left her house with headphones on and got hit by a van in 2008.
“She was seriously hurt and was in a wheelchair for a while. It left her traumatized and she was never quite the same afterward,” he said.
That may have led to the forming of a closer bond with her father, who sat at her bedside for hours praying for her.
“She wears a full face veil and I think she has changed her name. It was her father who had helped convert her,” a friend of Jane Harvey said.
“He wanted the younger daughter to convert but Jane was against it and there was quite a family struggle.
“I know Jane was very upset and wanted her to stay at home and continue her studies.”
