Ex-Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is on trial for double murder and witness intimidation. While testifying in court, his fiance told the jury that she had learned “not to ask questions.”
Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, who took the ex-NFL player’s last name in 2015, says we pretty much knew to just keep her mouth shut in certain situations, in Thursday’s testimony.
The fiance testified against Hernandez after prosecutors granted her immunity. Shayanna and Aaron have 4-year-old daughter together.
Prosecutors say that in July 2012, Hernandez shot and killed two men in Boston, Massachusetts. He’d had an encounter with the men in a nightclub.
He’s also on trial for witness intimidation. The prosecution alleges that Aaron Hernandez shot Alexander Bradley in an effort to stop him from speaking up (or testifying) about the nightclub killings.
Jenkins-Hernandez testified that she doesn’t recall whether she ever spoke to Hernandez about the shooting, even though he and Bradley were friends.
Hernandez’s lawyers argue Bradley is responsible for the deaths.
