Apparently the city of Malibu becoming a sanctuary city was funny to all sides, considering that Malibu does house a lot of California’s elite and is known worldwide as an epicenter of California posh life. With this in mind, liberal pranksters trying to be funny posted a sign that ended up being racist enough to cause them to fight against themselves. You can’t make this stuff up!
The sign reads: “Cheap nannies and gardeners make Malibu great! (Boyle Heights not so much).”
Boyle Heights is a primarily poor, hispanic community not too far away, from which many workers commute to Malibu for work.
A second sign was shared by a twitter user saying, ““Because our beach community needs cheap labor, dude.”
Police have taken down the signs as soon as they were noticed, and residents nor community leaders are too happy about this.
Of course, factions of liberals have chided other liberals that even as a joke referring to the illegally harbored immigrants as “gardeners and nannies” was playing too much.
According to the Huffington Post: “The sign appears to mock Malibu’s recent decision to become a sanctuary city, which means local authorities would limit their cooperation with federal authorities looking to detain undocumented immigrants. Malibu passed the resolution with a 3-2 council vote in March in a move that some view as mainly symbolic.”
