Professor Johnny Eric Williams, who teaches about race and racism at Connecticut’s Trinity College sent out a controversial post on his social media after the tragic shooting of a republican congressman two weeks ago in Virginia.
He wrote two posts that called ‘self-identified “whites”‘ ‘inhuman’ and demanded an end to ‘their destructive mythology’. He also wrote ‘#LetThemF*ckingDie’ about those who were injured by a crazed Bernie supporter in the Virginia shooting.
His posts were so outrageous that the whole school had to shut down for a day over violent threats.
The Daily Mail reports:
In the first of two posts made on Sunday, Williams wrote: ‘It is past time for the racially oppressed to do what people who believe themselves to be “white” will not do, put end to the vectors of their destructive mythology of whiteness and their white supremacy system. #LetThemF**kingDie.’
He then made a second post, saying: ‘Fed the f**k up with self-identified “white’s” daily violence directed at immigrants, Muslims, and sexual and racially oppressed people.
‘The time is now to confront these inhuman a**holes and end this now,’ he added, according to Campus Reform.
Trinity was slammed on its Facebook page, but did not address the fury at first, instead warning that ‘inappropriate, profane, defamatory, or disrespectful’ comments would be removed.
The internet responded with fury. The professor, and the school, began to receive threats and angry letters almost immediately.
College security reopened the school after one day when they determined there was no actual physical threat.
It remains to be seen if this professor will be kept on, or if the school board will give in to public pressure and fire him.
