Veteran conservative columnist Larry Elder argues that Obamacare is designed to explode and force the American public to adopt a socialist health-care system, in an editorial published today in Real Clear Politics.
Citing sources and backing up his claims with direct quotes, Elder uses Harry Reid‘s own statements on Obamacare against him. Speaking in 2013, Reid told a forum audience that Obamacare “would not work” over the long-term and that ultimately the Affordable Care Act was just a temporary transition between free-market and government-controlled medicine.
The editorial compares President Trump‘s chagrin at the amount of vitriol and dirty tactics leveled at his office by the establishment. Trump is a centrist on health care, yet can’t sell his mixed-economy ideas to Democrats wanting only control. Elder tells Trump to steer away from any compromise that strengthens Washington’s grip. “If you don’t want lobbying, don’t give them anything to lobby about,” is the writer’s succinct advice for the Commander-in-Chief.
“Welcome, Mr. President,” Elder concludes. “You’re not in New York anymore.”
