Increased deportations of illegal immigrants under President Trump should not be a news story, positive or negative, because it is simply the Federal government enforcing the law, Judge Andrew Napolitano told Fox News host Martha Maccallum this morning.
“It shouldn’t be newsworthy,” Napolitano said, that the Trump administration is following immigration laws already on the books.
The Judge brought up reports claiming a spike in enforcement along with a drop in new illegal arrivals.
If the story is newsworthy, he told Maccallum, it is only because recent administrations have done such a poor job of law enforcement.
“The previous government took every opportunity it could” to be soft on illegal aliens, Judge Nap continued.
“Whether out of a sense of compassion or a belief that immigrants help the economy or whatever was motivating President Obama, (he looked) the other way in the face of illegals.”
