Italian government officials have become increasingly desperate over their country’s state of affairs, considering the number of migrants that are landing on Italy’s shores.
The country is considering giving 200,000 illegal migrants EU Visas so that they can move north, towards other countries.
This plan would be disastrous for many European countries, as they already struggle to bear the burden of so many migrants.
The Daily Mail reports:
Italian government officials have threatened to issue temporary EU visas to thousands of migrants in an effort to deal with Italy’s escalating migrant and refugee crisis that would allow new arrivals to travel north.
In what has been described as a ‘nuclear option,’ Italian government officials have threatened to allow 200,000 migrants who enter the country to travel across Europe by using a Brussels directive, The Times reports.
Italy has previously called on its EU neighbours to help with the escalating humanitarian crisis but it has been disappointed by their lack of action.
Just this year, 86,000 migrants have already landed on Italy’s shores, because of their close proximity to north Africa.
Hundreds of asylum seekers are being crowded into camps all over Italy.
