An attack team of up to 30 Islamic State soldiers attempted an assault on a rebel base in southern Syria on Saturday, with extra firepower and an explosives-loaded armored vehicle in tow. United States special forces were patrolling the base.
The ISIS attackers were easily killed in a fiery American counter-attack. All enemy fighters are confirmed dead and there appear to be no casualties at all on the U.S. side.
Other American troops on a nearby patrol raced to reinforce the stationed unit after hearing of the impending attack. The Air Force aided the cause with air-to-ground strikes on the advancing ISIS war band.
“The enemy got crushed,” a military official told reporters.
