As “Rowdy” Roddy Piper put it in They Live, President Trump‘s U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley came to New York to kick a** and chew bubblegum.
And she’s all out of bubblegum.
Haley is distinguishing herself as the most pro-Israel and anti-globalist United States ambassador in more than a decade. “To go into that arena of hostility, having someone stand up for Israel — it’s most reassuring to people everywhere,” according to Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, VP of the New York Board of Rabbis.
In Haley’s recent comments to advisers, she is displaying a take-no-prisoners attitude and a fierce defense of American-Israeli values, standing up for the rights of gay people and women against the hatred of radical Islam.
“I wear heels,” Haley said at a conference on Monday. “If I see something wrong, we’re gonna kick ’em. Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East, where LGBT and women can live freely without persecution or murder, and all people are free to worship.”
“For anyone who says you can’t get anything done at the U.N., they need to know there is a new sheriff in town,” she added.
