Leading Democrats are calling for the ouster of Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, a fellow Democrat from Hawaii, after Gabbard asked the Pentagon to produce documents outlining proof of their intelligence reports on President Assad of Syria, and his ability to stage chemical attacks.
Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and other Democratic leaders have come out in support of President Trump’s decision to launch a warning strike at Assad after last week’s horrific sarin gas attack. But Gabbard, who met with Assad in January, criticized the U.S. Navy’s missile bombardment on Thursday night and has since expressed skepticism over proof of Syrian guilt.
Dems have reacted with outrage. “This is a disgrace. Gabbard should not be in Congress,” tweeted Howard Dean.
As pro-war a party as the Democrats are, it is still typical to see them viciously attacking a colleague for having an “unacceptable” position instead of saying anything positive, such as praise for the military.
