A senior al-Qaeda official, Qari Yasin, has just been taken down by a successful U.S. drone attack. Yasin was known to be one of the ‘greatest trainers’ when it comes to bombs and technology when it comes to jihad, with many of his ‘students’ still out in the world, ready to cause destruction and take lives as well as manufacturing bombs.
Yasin has been working for jihadists in both Pakisan and Afghanistan. He is known for his plan to bomb a Marriot Hotel in Islamabad, taking the lives of dozens in the process, among them two United States citizens. The fight in the Middle East still continues, but this was still a big win for the United States.
From Gateway Pundit:
A successful U.S. drone attack has killed a senior al-Qaeda official with Defense Secretary Jim Mattis having issued a statement claiming: “The death of Qari Yasin is evidence that terrorists who defame Islam and deliberately target innocent people will not escape justice.” Yasin is most infamous for the plot behind the September 20th, 2008 bombing of an Islamabad Marriott Hotel, which took the lives of two U.S. servicemembers, among dozens more.
The Pentagon reported that Yasin was killed during an airstrike in Pakistan in the Paktika Province. They also stated that they would be deploying some 300 Marines in the Spring of 2017 to one of the deadliest provinces for U.S. troops, Helmand, an area that we pulled out of back in 2014 under the Obama Administration.
The fight will still, unfortunately, continue in the region but the Pakistani people can at least take solace for now in the fact that major Islamic terrorist Qari Yasin has been killed.
