In a searing editorial for The Federalist published today, Mollie Hemingway explains why the Nunes revelations – that intelligence officers working for Obama did, in fact, spy on the Trump team – are not only a big deal, but a much bigger deal than anyone in the media or the government is currently willing to admit.
Hemingway uses her inside knowledge of the White House press corps to show how journalists are down-playing the spying allegations despite growing evidence, and in some cases, even playing dumb.
“Many reporters at the press conference didn’t seem to know the significance of what they were being told, with many asking questions about Russia,” she writes. “This (the spying) had nothing to do with Russia” according to Nunes himself, continues Hemingway.
Hemingway also mocks the Democrat narrative that Nunes merely confirmed Trump’s inaccuracy, by pointing out that Obama did not personally order a direct wire-tap of President-Elect Donald Trump’s NYC office. “(Apart from) whether Obama crawled into Trump Tower in late October, can we talk about…the Obama administration’s questionable behavior?” the editorial concludes.
