A Belgian psychologist and mother who had worked with refugees and asylum seekers facing deportation has been named as a victim of Friday’s jihadist atrocity in Stockholm, Sweden.
Males Dereymaeker, 31 years-old (in photo) was waiting for her friends on corner of Drottninggatan and Olof Palmes when the terrorist struck.
She was the first victim to be hit by the speeding truck, and died instantly at the scene. It took forensic experts 2 days to identify the woman’s mangled body from DNA samples.
Dereymaeker was from the small town of Lembeek, near Brussels, and worked with illegal immigrants attempting to help them remain in Sweden. She is survived by an 18 month-old daughter.
