Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) told an Australian TV station this weekend that he believe that Vladimir Putin is a greater threat to the U.S. than ISIS.
McCain, who is 80 and a war hero from the Vietnam era has long seen himself as an expert in foreign affairs and enjoys getting attention on the Sunday talk shows.
But, to declare Putin a greater threat to the U.S. than ISIS seems a little too farfetched, even for McCain.
There is much to dislike about Vladimir Putin, but he is not out trying to kill Americans the way that ISIS is.
Here’s how The Hill described McCain’s comments;
I think ISIS can do terrible things. But it’s the Russians who tried to destroy the fundamental of democracy and that is to change the outcome of an American election. Putin is the premier and most important threat, more so than ISIS.
The Russians may have tried to influence the U.S. election, but they are not in the same league as ISIS when it comes to terrorism.
