The same Democrats accusing President Donald Trump of using Russia-linked fake news stories to attack them have been using disinformation from Russia to attack Trump, The Washington Times reports.
Top Democrats have repeatedly referenced a widely-discredited “dossier” compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele, which is rife with discredited and unverified claims provided by Russian sources.
Steele was even paid by Democrat-funded Fusion GPS, an opposition research firm using money from a Hillary Clinton donor, to compile the dossier.
The group disseminated the document to Democrats and the media, despite numerous instances of discredited and completely unverified claims.
Steele doesn’t hide that the disinformation came from the same sources Democrats accuse of working with Trump.
In the dossier, Steele cites his sources as “a senior Russian Foreign Ministry figure,” a former “top level Russian intelligence officer active inside the Kremlin,” a “senior Kremlin official” and a “senior Russian government official.”
More, via Washington Times:
The same Democrats who have condemned Russia’s election interference via plying fake news and hacking email servers have quoted freely from the Steele anti-Trump memos derived from creatures of the Kremlin.
In other words, there is public evidence of significant, indirect collusion between Democrats and Russian disinformation, a Trump supporter said.
