Jon Ossoff (D) and Karen Handel (R) are locked in a statistical dead heat in polls on the upcoming Georgia special election.
But chances are, Ossoff – who doesn’t live in the district – would be losing badly if it wasn’t for donations from all over the United States.
In fact, it appears that most of Ossoff’s loot has come from out-of-town, out-of-state contributions.
“You might live just 5 miles outside of the district, but your values are nearly 3,000 miles away in San Francisco,” Handel snapped at her opponent during a recent debate. “That’s why so many of your contributions have come from liberals from California, New York and Massachusetts.”
Ossoff’s total recorded fundraising number is over $23 million.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has invested millions of dollars into the race, seeing it as an opportunity to elect a Democrat in a normally conservative state and a challenge to President Trump’s power.
