Kimberly Naquin, 27, tearfully pled guilty in front of a judge this week, after being accused of having an affair with a 17-year-old student.
Naquin taught History at Destrehan High School, in St Charles Parish, near New Orleans. She pled guilty to having carnal knowledge of a juvenile, and prohibited sexual contact between a student and a teacher.
Her 16-year-old student testified about the year-long affair she had with her teacher. “I thought she was cool because she paid special attention to me,” said the 16-year-old girl.
The affair was brought to the attention of the school administrators after the girl’s mother found evidence of their relationship on her daughter’s cell phone.
CBS News reports:
Twenty-seven-year-old Kimberly Naquin pleaded guilty Monday to carnal knowledge of a juvenile and prohibited sexual contact between a teacher and student.
A statement from the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office says Naquin was a teacher at Destrehan High School in St. Charles Parish when the relationship with the 16-year-old student began.
“I thought she was cool because she paid special attention to me,” the victim testified, according to CBS affiliate WWL-TV.
St. Charles authorities began investigating after the girl’s mother learned of the relationship. Kenner police took over after learning that the illegal activities took place in Naquin’s apartment.
