Henry Deutschendorf was found dead last week. Deutschendorf, who played Baby Oscar in “Ghostbusters 2” was the nephew of singer John Denver. He was only 29 years old.
According to his twin brother, William, he was discovered hanging in the closet of his apartment he shared with his girlfriend. William cut his body down and immediately called 911. Unfortunately, by the time they had arrived, he had been dead for some time.
Deutschendorf had suffered for many years from a combination of schizophrenia and a bipolar disorder. He had been diagnosed in 2008 and had 25 different voices in his head.
William wrote, “I will remember him as my best friend, my partner, my brother, and the bravest man I have ever known.”
William added, “If you knew Hank before his diagnosis, you knew a young man who was upbeat, healthy, witty, kind, outgoing, and was always ready to stand up for people. Medication curbed the delusions but it did not stop the voices. … Hank would have good days and bad days. He didn’t take a real sick day for the past nine years that I can remember.”
