Early voting has begun in the Georgia Special Election for the state’s 6th Congressional District.
Democrat Jon”Greasy” Ossoff is trying for an upset over Republican Karen Handel in the GOP-leaning district that reaches across greater Atlanta’s northern suburbs.
The race could be Democrats’ best shot at picking up a Republican seat anytime soon, but polls show a dead heat once again.
A WSB-TV poll of 500 likely voters shows Ossoff leading Handel 49% to 48%.
That poll result stands in sharp contrast to a much-ballyhooed Survey USA poll that showed Ossoff with a healthy lead just last week.
In Georgia, Ossoff almost won an April 18 primary outright in a field of 18 candidates, with many Republicans diluting the conservative vote.
