Fox News has made the stunning decision to let go of popular news host Bill O’Reilly, one of the network’s star attractions for over a decade, over allegations of sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct.
21st Century Fox announced the move Wednesday in a written statement.
“After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the Company and Bill O’Reilly have agreed that Bill O’Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel,” it read.
The O’Reilly Factor has suffered an exodus of advertisers amid the reveal that settlements have been quietly paid out to 5 women who had accused the host of sexual harassment.
Though an attorney, O’ Reilly put out a defiant statement in response.
“Bill O’Reilly has been subjected to a brutal campaign of character assassination that is unprecedented in post-McCarthyist America,” the statement reads. “A smear campaign is being orchestrated by far-left organization(s) bent on destroying O’Reilly for political and financial reasons.”
