In a Thursday interview on Fox News, geopolitical analyst George Friedman told Tucker Carlson that President Trump has exposed the “game” of foreign policy in a unique, new and effective way.
“I’ve never seen a politician do this,” he laughed on the air.
Friedman is referring to Trump’s recent comments dialing back his view of China as a currency manipulator.
“I’m not going to call them a currency manipulator when they’re helping us with the North Korea problem,” Trump has said.
The analyst remarked that Presidents have always shown leniency in China’s economic relationship with the U.S. while the Chinese help put pressure on global enemies such as North Korea, but then roar back the other way once the crisis is averted. But it has never been addressed in public until now.
“The interesting thing about Donald Trump is that he has admitted that this is a game that has been played for many years. “I’ll trade trade for (help with) North Korea.”
