Aaron Hernandez Wanted to Share His Prison Cell With his gay lover in the days before he hung himself.
The former New England Patriot star requested prison authorities to allow him to share his cell with Kyle Kennedy, his 22-year-old lover.
According to an article in The Daily Mail, Kyle Kennedy’s lawyer revealed this information after Hernandez’s suicide. Kennedy was the recipient of one of three suicide notes left by the troubled football star.
Kyle Kennedy was in prison after his conviction in a 2015 robbery. Hernandez was in prison on a life sentence for murder. Just a week before he committed suicide, Hernandez was acquitted of two other murder charges. However, he was reported to be depressed and being denied access to his prison lover may have put him over the edge.
According to Attorney Larry Army Jr., Hernandez had made the request for Kennedy to be his cellmate to prison officials and Kennedy was open to the idea. “If he was going to be in with someone else why not Aaron Hernandez,” Army said.
The prison staff initially approved the decision, but the prison superintendent later reversed it after deciding that Hernandez was too a high profile prisoner to share a cell with anyone.
