Judge Rosemary Collyer has blistered the Obama Administration in a new legal opinion given in April and just released to the public.
Collyer and other judges from the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court gave the opinion stating that President Barack Obama violated the 4th Amendment of the Bill of Rights.
The 4th Amendment protects Americans from unwarranted surveillance, and gives citizens the right to privacy in their papers and effects.
Not only did the former President’s staff (and intelligence agencies under his watch) spy on Americans, in Collyer’s view the administration was not honest with the court about its violations of federal law.
Collyer lauded President Trump for taking a legal, Constitutional approach to surveillance in contrast to his predecessor.
The judge wrote that Obama’s violations of Section 702 of FISA court guidelines violated both the Constitution and the civil rights of Americans.
