An anonymous Department of Homeland Security official has announced that FBI is investigating around 300 refugees for terrorism. Calling this, ‘a truly alarming number,’ the official added that there are also 1000 investigations looking into possible domestic terrorists who may try to stage an ISIS style attack in the U.S.
The Daily Caller looks back on previous cases:
Two terrorist attacks by Somali refugees have injured more than 20 Americans in the past year. The DHS also pointed Monday to the case of another Somali refugee who was sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2014 for trying to set off a bomb at a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony in Portland, Ore.
The statement coincides with President Trump’s new executive order to put a halt on refugees entering the U.S. for 120 days. The previous executive order was blocked by a federal judge. In the month since the order was stopped, 4,300 ‘refugees’ have entered the U.S. The new one will have no indefinite ban on Syrian immigrant entry.
The new executive order will be put into action from March 16. Trump’s administration will use the 120 day period to look into vetting procedures.
