Authorities are confirming that border crossings are decreasing. Senator Ted Cruz has released fantastic news stating that the border crossings at Rio Grande have dropped by 50%. This is a drastic difference from the number of crossings which were surging and the end of the year under Obama. Cruz also said that there is a good chance that there is now is drop because potential crossers now believe the law will finally be enforced where it never was before. This is all due to the fact that President Donald Trump was taking the initiative to enforce a law where it was never being enforced before. There is also an observable decline in crossings at Hidalgo.
In an interview from the Blaze:
“Since Inauguration Day, illegal crossings have dropped 50 percent [in the Rio Grande section of the border],” he said, as the audience broke out in applause and cheers. Cruz mentioned that he had gone on a ride-along on a midnight patrol of the area and that a border patrol agent had given him the information about the drop in crossing attempts. “Oddly enough, you and I have not seen that on 6 o’clock news,” he added.
From Conservative Tribune:
Trump has indeed followed through on that promise, and it looks like it is working. KRGV reported that in Texas, Hidalgo County deputies have noted a decrease in the number of border crossings. Deputy constable Joel Contreras explained that since the end of January, the number of border crossings as decreased immensely, though he said that won’t decrease border patrols.
