Huffington Post is reporting that several people who were part of an ancestry study at West Chester University have refused to accept that they aren’t black people, after DNA results showed otherwise.
One woman became inconsolable after learning that she is only 32% black.
Another test subject, identified only as “Bernard,” walked into the test calling himself black.
He informed the participating professors ahead of time that despite having a white mother, his mother had raised him to identify as a black person.
When the test showed that Bernard had only 1% African-American blood and is mostly European, he flatly refused the results.
“I know my nose is sharp and my skin is light, but my politics are as black as night,” he told a reporter. “I reject my white privilege in racist America.”
