Informal polling of Republicans in Montana has turned up a big surprise – and a bummer for hopeful Democrats – over the last 24 hours.
Many Republican voters are saying they actually like that special election candidate Greg Gianforte body-slammed a Guardian reporter.
“My kind of politician,” said one Montana clerk.
“I think reporters have it coming,” another voter told MSNBC.
Gianforte was charged with misdemeanor assault, but has denied Jacob’s version of the incident, saying that the reporter was aggressive and grabbed him.
Polls have been heavily suggesting a Republican win, with only the misdemeanor incident giving pundits pause going into tonight’s vote.
