Richard “Scott” Silverthorne, the former Democratic Mayor of Fairfax, Virginia, had just pleaded guilty to a felony drug distribution charge on Monday. He was arrested in August for this charge and resigned from his station shortly after. Before he served as mayor, he was a substitute teacher in the Fairfax school district and was on the city council for 20 years.

Silverthorne faces a sentencing of up to 40 years in prison and a fine of $500,000.
