A Chicago woman reportedly killed her boyfriend by pouring bleach down his throat. Police say, she’s now facing first-degree murder charges.
The suspect is 24-year-old Yasmine Elder. Authorities say she got into a fight with her 26-year-old boyfriend, Darrius Ellis. They were sitting inside the victim’s van at the time, reports Chicago Tribune.
Reports say the young woman was able to overpower her significant other and pour the lethal liquid down his throat. It was said to have happened around 1:45 AM on Monday.
Later that morning, cops found Ellis’ body on the ground. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Autopsy results from the medical examiner’s office determined that Ellis died of “complications from forcible administration of a caustic substance.” The incident was ruled a homicide.
The Tribune notes that Ellis was the father of a 5-year-old son.
According to the same publication, Ellis’ maternal grandfather, Clarence Hebron, praised his now-deceased grandson, suggesting “everybody loved him.”
Hebron saw his grandson nearly every day — and last saw him Sunday night. He got the horrific phone call about Ellis’ death just hours later.
Elder was arrested and is due in court Thursday.
