Scott Pelley, the former CBS evening news host, took the opportunity of his last show to politicize a tragedy and make a vile jab at GOP shooting victims, by calling the attack “self-inflicted.”
Pelley asked whether the shooting was, “foreseeable, predictable and to some degree, self-inflicted,” making a dig at Republicans who support gun rights.
The news anchor used the story to criticize President Trump, only briefly mentioning the shooter’s support of Bernie Sanders, before turning instead to concentrate on a tweet made by Trump in which he calls the media the “enemy of the people.”
According to the Daily Caller:
The establishment media has been caught red handed once again, attempting to politicize a tragedy and flaccidly inferring that a shooter’s targeting of Republican congress members is somehow “self-inflicted” due to their own political rhetoric.
It comes with little surprise that NewsBusters named Scott Pelley as the most anti-Trump news anchor on TV, perhaps why Pelley’s ratings have been so abysmal, leading to his eventual exit as the evening news anchor on CBS.
This statement raises the question of whether a victim is ever responsible for being violently attacked. If a Republican can “self-inflict” a shooting against himself, can a woman wearing a provocative outfit “self-inflict” being sexually assaulted? Perhaps liberals need to figure out the answer before making divisive accusations.
