It was about eleven months ago that former FBI Director James Comey concluded that Hillary Clinton and her aides were “”extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.”
However, according to Sen. Chuck Grassley, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Clinton still holds a security clearance.
Additionally, six former staffers of Secretary Clinton also retain security clearances.
It was perhaps understandable that Clinton kept her clearance during the campaign and even until Obama left office. But, it’s hard to understand why the current Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson would allow it to continue.
Sen. Grassley raised the issue to Secretary Tillerson in a formal letter dated March 30, 2017, according to an article in Zero Hedge.
In the letter, Sen. Grassley asked if the Department of State agrees with former FBI Director Comey that Clinton and her staff were “extremely careless,” in their handling of classified material.
The letter further asks if the State Department agrees with the unilateral decision made by Mr. Comey not to prosecute Clinton for leaks of classified information.
Finally, the letter asks the Department to give a date when Hillary’s security clearance will be revoked.
