An 18-year-old ‘dreamer’ has been charged with shooting two Chicago police officers last week.
Angel Gomez is facing two counts of attempted murder. Police are still looking for others who were involved in the crime.
Gomez is only in this country thanks to the Obama’s administration lax attitude towards children of illegal aliens, which allows ‘dreamers’ to stay in the U.S. in spite of their illegal status.
Chicago is a so-called sanctuary city where local law prohibits law enforcement from asking a person’s immigration status when they are investigated for crimes.
Now, administrations may change, but our values and principles as it relates to inclusion does not. People from all faiths, all backgrounds and all parts of the world have beaten their path to the city of Chicago because Chicago offers them and — more importantly, as the son and the grandson of an immigrant — their children and grandchildren a chance at the American dream.
— Mayor Rahm Emanuel
It would be interesting to know if the two Chicago police officers that were shot by a ‘dreamer’ feels the same way the mayor does. Chance are they, and a majority of the legal citizens of Chicago do not.
