Reuters is reporting that the Conservative government of Theresa May will lose their majority in the House of Commons.
May had counted on gaining a stronger mandate when she decided to call a quick election to strengthen her ability to negotiate Brexit with the EU.
Instead, it appears that May will fail to win a majority and is facing calls to resign.
Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn said that May should step down after failing to win a mandate for her program.
May became Prime Minister after British voters supported Brexit last summer and Prime Minister David Cameron resigned.
It is a tradition in British politics that when a sitting Prime Minister fails to win a snap election, they may be expected to resign. If May does decide to resign after just 11 months in office, it would be the shortest tenure of any prime minister in the past century.
