Jared Kushner did not suggest setting up a Russia-U.S. back-channel when meeting with Ambassador Sergei Kislyak, claims a bombshell new story at Fox News.
What’s more, the Russian ambassador suggested it as a way to discuss a new joint strategy in Syria.
The ambassador did not raise the subject at any other time or for any other topic of discussion.
Also, a permanent back-channel between the countries was never discussed, according to Fox’s source.
Instead, Kislyak was interested in setting up a one-time secure phone conference to discuss the Trump Administration’s policies on Syria, and how they would differ from President Obama’s.
This story directly contradicts the Washington Post, which has reported that Kushner wanted to set up his own permanent, private line with the Russian government.
