Leaked NSA documents which show that Russia engaged in unsuccessful election-related hacking efforts days before the November 8th election directly contradict what former President Barack Obama said to the American public.
In December, Obama told the public that Russian interference ceased after he told Russian President Vladimir Putin to “cut it out” in early September.
The cyber-attacks stopped happening after warnings of “serious consequences” if they continued, the President said.
But items published by The Intercept on Monday revealed that as late as November 1, hackers launched an election-related spearfishing effort “targeting U.S. local government organizations.”
Evidently, Russia was still trying to tamper with the American electoral process after Obama said he had caused it to stop.
