It looks like Ted Cruz is fully on board with the Trump administration. At this year’s CPAC, Cruz announced that on some parts of the US-Mexico border there has been a 50% drop in illegal border crossings, probably due to potential border jumpers believing that immigration and deportation rules will now be enforced.
According to YoungCons:
“Since Inauguration Day, illegal crossings have dropped 50 percent [in the Rio Grande section of the border],” he said, as the audience broke out in applause and cheers. Cruz mentioned that he had gone on a ride-along on a midnight patrol of the area and that a border patrol agent had given him the information about the drop in crossing attempts.
“Oddly enough, you and I have not seen that on 6 o’clock news,” he added.
With immigration reform being top on Trumps campaign list, voters are getting excited to see a President actually trying to keep his promises. Although facing stiff opposition from protestors, the President seems keen to stay the course.
Cruz also mentioned that there may be more Supreme Court vacancies opening up this year. Due to Cruz’s history of working within the courts, his insider information is probably better than most.
