Black students at Harvard University have demanded that they have their own graduation commencement ceremony.
No White, Hispanic, Asian or other ethnic groups get such special treatment at Harvard, so why are the black student treated so special?
According to the Boston Globe, more than 170 black students will don African cloth and “celebrate their unique struggles and achievements at an elite institution that has been grappling with its historic ties to slavery.”
I can only imagine how special I will feel when I walk across that stage and be able to honor my identity and my struggle at Harvard. I know this is exactly what students like me need to be inspired as we leave this place as emerging global leaders.

The black only ceremony was a result of threats from the Black Lives Matter movement to target Harvard for its “micro-aggressions” towards blacks.
Similar black only ceremonies have been held at Stanford, Columbia, and Temple universities.
