Bernie Sanders tried to portray himself as an honest alternative to the corrupt Hillary Clinton during the Democratic primaries last year. A current FBI investigation into his wife has revealed that Sanders may not be a honest as he pretends to be.
Sanders’ wife, Jane, is the focus of an FBI investigation into allegations of bank fraud.
Sanders stands accused of misrepresenting her $10 million dollar purchase of thirty-six acres of land formerly belonging to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington, Vermont. The reason for purchasing the land was to expand the campus of Burlington College so that it abutted Lake Champlain.
Federal investigators had been looking into the case for some time. Jane Sanders is suspected of lying about donations she claimed to have already received. Bernie may have used his political influence to help secure a loan to purchase the land. Not only that, but the school lost $500,000 between 2009 and 2012 thanks to the Vermont Woodworking School, which was being run and organized by Jane Sanders’ daughter.
Jane Sanders’ poor management resulted in the closing of Burlington College in 2016. Her corrupt land deal virtually bankrupted the college.
Senator Sanders and his wife have both been called to give testimony before the FBI. The investigation, which began under President Obama may spell the end of Sanders’ political career. The Vermont Socialist could be looking at charges of corruption.
