The abortion conglomerate has booked former Republican president George W. Bush’s daughter, Barbara Bush, to deliver the keynote speech at their annual luncheon.
It turns out Barbara Bush has been friends with Cecile Richards, head of Planned Parenthood. Richards’ mother, Ann Richards, was one a Governor of Texas who had a war of words with former President George Bush, Barbara’s grandfather. The two use this past to form a new friendship. Cecile Richards also once was the Chief-of-Staff for democrat and Anti-Trump supporter Nancy Pelosi.
Barbara Bush was picked not just due to her friendship with the abortion rights leader, but also her own project, the Global Health Corps, which words with third-world countries to help them create health equity.

Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas is thrilled to announce Barbara Pierce Bush as the Keynote Speaker for the 2017 Annual Luncheon.
Barbara Bush is CEO and co-founder of Global Health Corps, an organization that mobilizes a global community of young leaders to build the movement for health equity. Since 2009, Global Health Corps has placed 450 young leaders from sixteen countries to work with non-profit and government health organizations like Partners In Health and the Clinton Health Access Initiative in Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Rwanda, Zambia and the United States. Before joining GHC, Bush worked in Educational Programming at the Smithsonian Institution’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, where she supported design thinking programs for high school students and faculty across the US. She has worked for Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Capetown, South Africa and interned for UNICEF in Botswana.
She has traveled with the UN World Food Programme, focusing on the importance of nutrition. Bush is a member of UNICEF’s Next Generation Steering Committee, and is on the Board of Directors of Covenant House International, PSI, Friends of the Global Fight for AIDS, TB and Malaria, and the UN’s Social Entrepreneurship Council. She is a Draper Richards Foundation Social Entrepreneur, a World Economic Forum Young Global Shaper and a fellow of the Echoing Green Foundation. Bush was named one of Glamour magazine’s Women of the Year in 2011, one of Newsweek’s Women of Impact in 2013, and one of Fast Company’s Most Creative People in 2015. Bush graduated from Yale University with a degree in Humanities in 2004.
Proceeds from the Fort Worth Annual Luncheon support Planned Parenthood’s essential healthcare and health education services to women, men, and young people in Central and North Texas.
