In what must be some of the strongest rhetoric yet used against President Trump, Dem Rep for California, Ted Lieu has said that Trump is under a “cloud of treason”. He has stated that no policies or agendas must go forward ; which echoes other Democrat voices.
Treason is punishable by death in the US, and to cast aspersions that Donald Trump is guilty of treason is not only volatile and divisive, but also without any presented evidence.
As the Daily Caller reports:
“Cloud of treason means we must have total shutdown of any [President Trump] agenda item. No votes on any item,” Lieu tweeted.
Treason is a crime that is punishable by death. Democrats have been sharpening their rhetoric against Trump as allegations build of collusion between his campaign and the Russian government. For instance, Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters has repeatedly called for impeachment.
The FBI is currently investigating whether collusion with the Kremlin occurred. House Intelligence Committee ranking member Adam Schiff has said there is more than circumstantial evidence regarding this matter. However, Republican members of the committee have said this evidence doesn’t exist.
This dangerous and divisive rhetoric is exactly the type of thing that the Democrats accused Donald Trump of during his election campaign, perhaps they think that if it worked for him to get power, it will work for them too.
