Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, took the opportunity in his opening statement in the Senate Select Committee hearing on Russia, not only confirm some home truths but also to have a go at the committee itself for implying that he had done anything wrong. He took them to task saying that he had worked with honor for 35 years for this country and that they were telling “detestable lies”.
He also set the record straight on allegations that he had been trying to dodge questions. He made it clear that the questioner was using uncorroborated information that he had taken directly from a news headline.
When will we all wake up and see this for what it is? A show trial; a witch hunt! To date, there has not been a single credible piece of evidence to any collusion between Russia and Trump, but there has been about the DNC and Russia. Why are they not answering questions?
As reported in the Daily Caller:
But whether I ever attended a reception where the Russian Ambassador was also present is entirely beside the point of this investigation into Russian interference with the 2016 campaigns.
Let me state this clearly: I have never met with or had any conversations with any Russians or any foreign officials concerning any type of interference with any campaign or election.
Further, I have no knowledge of any such conversations by anyone connected to the Trump campaign. I was your colleague in this body for 20 years, and the suggestion that I participated in any collusion or that I was aware of any collusion with the Russian government to hurt this country, which I have served with honor for over 35 years, or to undermine the integrity of our democratic process, is an appalling and detestable lie.
