In a memorable scene in the 1976 film Network, Robert Duvall tells an executive at the fictional “UBS” network that any concerns over the content of The Howard Beale Show are pointless, because the show is popular.
“I’ve got a big fat hit, and (the agenda of broadcast execs) doesn’t matter anymore!” he yells.
40 years later his line might have been, “I’ve got a big hit, and I have to check with Hillary Clinton and her friends to make sure it’s okay, or we’ll cancel it.”
ABC has abruptly, mysteriously cancelled the hit show Last Man Standing, which was viewed by 8.7 million people this season…making it one of the top 3 programs on the network.
The move is widely understood to be a blatant political ax-job.
Starring Tim Allen as a conservative Christian, the show has made fun of overly-PC politics, victim culture on campus and liberal gun-grabs. There are currently 4 online petitions begun in protest of ABC’s decision.
