A Florida college student has been suspended after challenging his Muslim professor’s claim that Jesus wasn’t crucified.
Marshall Polston, a sophomore at Rollins College, was taking Middle Eastern humanities class when the professor, Areej Zufari, taught the group that not only was Jesus never on the cross, his disciples never believed he was God.
“Honestly, it reminded me of some of the more radical groups I researched when abroad,” Polston confessed to the Central Florida Post. He also told the newspaper that a Muslim student of Zufari’s told the class that homosexuals and people who engage in premarital or extramarital sex should have their heads chopped off.
Polston, a straight-A student, was given a failing grade on an essay by Zufari – who the Polston says refused to explain why. A few days later, the young man was suspended and asked not to come near the professor on campus.
Later, Zufari filed a police report claiming that Polston had snooped around his class while in session, but the sophomore produced a restaurant receipt proving that he was out having dinner at the time.
