A Texas man found himself in handcuffs after thwarting the attempted kidnapping of his fiance by shooting at the perpetrators, according to a report in The Daily Caller.
Jeremiah Morin of Spring, Texas, saw two masked men trying to snatch the woman in the driveway of their Houston-area home, drew his pistol and fired several shots at the criminals causing them to flee.
But Montgomery County officers who responded to the incident arrested him.
The police claim that he fired his gun “recklessly” and with disregard for the safety of others, and placed him in custody. Morin and his fiance Angela Estrada are outraged that police determined he was the one who committed a crime during the attempted kidnapping.
The story marks another in a long line of cases where gun control and gun laws have superseded the rights of citizens attempting to protect themselves under the 2nd Amendment.
