Laura Mosher and Marc Mosher Jr. were arraigned in a Tennessee courtroom with a charge of child abuse and murder, after their 10-month-old daughter was found dead in a crib.
When officers were called to the house, they immediately guessed what happened. The baby’s room was measured at about 80 degrees, and the baby was dressed in a fleece onesie and socks.
However, neighbors and witnesses told police that that was not the first time they had seen the Mosher’s abuse the baby. One grocery store clerk said he saw the parents yelling and screaming at the baby, and that the child looked like it was being starved.
“I arrived on the scene, did a walk through, and there were some things that just didn’t add up,” the sheriff told WZTV.
A police report says that the 10-month-old baby girl was found dead inside of a room, in which the temperature was more than 80 degrees. The baby was dressed in a fleece onesie, with socks underneath, laying in a crib. Police say her body temperature was just 89 degrees.
Laura Mosher reportedly told police that her baby seemed to be fine when she laid her down in her crib. She said that she called 911 several hours after putting her to sleep.
“It just appeared that the child had been there for longer than what was being told to us,” Weems said.
Officials say that the baby girl starved to death and that she was dehydrated.
Both parents were arrested are facing charges of aggravated child abuse and the mother is also being charged with murder.
