Jay Leno has long been an outspoken critic of Obamacare, but even the most liberal of the late night talk show hosts are beginning to get disgusted with the ongoing rollout issues. Jimmy Kimmel slammed the Affordable Care Act in the opening monologue of his show earlier this week, citing statistics from White House officials that not nearly enough people in their 20s have signed up for the plan as they had anticipated.
“They expect young people to buy health insurance at the same time that the new Playstation 4 is out?” he joked. “Maybe they shouldn’t have made the law that says you can be on your parents health insurance until you’re 26? What young kid is going to say, “No thanks, Mom and Dad, I’ve got the premiums covered.”
Kimmel then showed a parody commercial for the Affordable Care Act that spoke to the “young and vibrant,” cutting to an elderly couple mocking young people who are paying for their medical treatment. “You young people are paying for our drugs. Not to mention our social security and our medicare when we retire to Boca,” they said. “You know why? Because you don’t vote and we do.”
Kimmel then cited a shocking statistic which showed that the U.S. Medicare program spent $172 million on penis pumps between 2006-2011, delivering 500,000 of the sex toys that are known as a cure for erectile dysfunction. “I didn’t know even know that penis pumps were a real thing. I thought it was like X-ray specs,” he said. “Imagine how countries how we owe money to feel about that.”
